Critical: Professionalism Mowed clippings into the street and onto apt residents cars and did not clean up after themselves. Rain from the day pasted the clippings down good. As a motorcycle rider I find their quality of work to be dangerous and potentially liability inducing.

General note about the 2 phase project is that it was a pretty small job that probably didn't bring in too much income for a company as large as Barnes is. They didn't hesitate to take the job. Coordinated 2 phases of a landscaping project. Upon completion of Phase 1, remove the Yews, we moved to phase 2, rockscaping. Bridget coordinated both phases.

I sent her the below message after phase 2 was completed. The team you sent over this morning to Rockscape the north and east sides of my home did an outstanding job! The weather changed dramatically (cold/hot rain/wind) from beginning to end, but they held their own, even as light rain fell for a while. I expected to be satisfied with the final result, but I'm happy to say it is more like ecstatic, with the results now that everything has been cleaned up.

It looks so incredible, organized, kept, AND I'll never have to trim those dang Yews again! Fall cleanup will go much quicker now that the hastas on the side of my house aren't surrounded by that snow on the mountain ground cover and WEEDS! Critters will have fewer places to hide from birds of prey and hopefully STOP building tunnels along the foundation of my home, or or in my window wells.

As your team worked, you could tell they're close as they laughed often. If I had been doing the work myself, a number of expletives would no doubt have been dropped, AND, it would have taken weeks or months whereas your team got everything done in less than a day! Great work! If we weren't in this pandemic, I'd have asked you all to join me for a celebratory adult beverage in the backyard. Another time! Thanks everyone - you're a well oiled machine!

Pretty bad experience. I can't recommend them. I'm not sure if the size of the job was the problem (relatively small delivery of materials) or what, but they just go radio silent for weeks on end. The only way they work is through voicemail and email, which is understandable given the pandemic right now, but at least respond to people.

I requested that Barnes come to my home to give me an estimate on some lawn work and give suggestions about my trees. I made it clear when requesting a home visit that I wan't a tree expert and that I'd like to get some direction from an arborist. They sent a guy who wasn't helpful at all and just kept telling me they could do whatever I wanted them to do to the trees.

Then when I gave some negative feedback the owner rather than making it right acted as though it was my fault and dismissed my feedback. He then rescinded his original quote saying he wouldn't work with me. If I could give them a lower rating I would

The finest landscaping company I have worked with thus far. Tree removal crew was professional, thorough, and clean! The front office communicates very well. Advice from Mark himself is invaluable. Bridget has been a great guide as well. They are by no means the least expensive, but I understand why now. They do great work! I am highly impressed.

These guys do not know how to keep commercial lawns healthy. They cut the grass during a 3 week drought turning healthy green grass into dead brown mess. They cut it regardless every week no matter how dry it is. They have teenagers spray pesticides all over our complex with no protection all around a pond, an area with a lot of woodland animals. Why?

Do you not think these animals are not going to eat those toxic bugs you are killing? Do you spray pesticides onto your property, right next to your open window, next to your picnic area? During the wintertime, they love to layer every inch of walkway with huge rock salts, every day there is precipitation, to the point where the grass dies off two feet from the walkway.

I notice they use extra salt so they dont have to go back and shovel the walkways. Our office floor is covered in salt dust during the snow season due to over salting. I bet the pond in our complex just loves that salty runoff. Thank you Barnes for being so generous to our environment in Madison.

I bought three giant granite boulders from Barnes, back in 2004. they delivered and placed them, cheaply and perfectly. I also had them rebuild a rock garden, which had fallen into disrepair. Again, they were fantastic. When it came time to move, my two sons wanted to bring the giant granite boulders to our new home. Again, Barnes to the rescue. They picked up the boulders, brought them back to their facility and stored them for us, for 8 months! now they will be bringing them out to our new home, where they will build us another wonderful rock garden.

They have been very kind to us, on many occasions. They are friendly, helpful, fair, funny and imaginative. Our experience with Barnes has always been excellent. They are good people. If you treat them nicely, and with respect, you will be amazed at how it all comes back to you.

Bought an X-Mark last fall to cut our 8 hours of mowing down by 40% and have loved the rig this year.if I told Troy and Mark what I've used this rig to do, they would probably tear up my warranty because this thing doesn't back down from any task (even those non-mowing things I've done with it that I won't tell them about?). Today I thought I'd get some fall mowing done and the rig wouldn't start.

I emailed Troy and Mark, thinking it was a battery issue I was going to charge the battery. By the time I got the charger out I got an email from Troy suggesting I check parking break handle.found a small twig in the way, removed it and the rig purred like a kitten.so how is that for service.was able to get right back on and get started. Thanks Troy.(you too Mark).

I had a very similar experience as the reviewer from 4/27/2012. A sales person came out to our house but in the end refused to give us an estimate and refused to work with us. I'm not sure why they would send someone out to our house and then not give us an estimate. I was annoyed about that, but after reading some of their reviews online, maybe I should be thankful that they wouldn't work with us. If a company will be rude to us before they get our money, I can only imagine what they'd be like after they got our money.

I wanted to get a bid on some grading I needed done. I thought Barnes was a professional company and gave them a shot. I received a bid for work in a timely manner. I got back to Barnes and asked to revise the bid for some additional work I wanted done. I was told I would have the bid within a week. I called back 2 1/2 weeks later and asked if I could work with someone who would follow up with me because I wanted to proceed with Barnes, after receiving 3 other bids.

The top dog showed up at my house, director of Landscape, I wanted to show him what I wanted done, and some additional grading that wasn't discussed yet. Brett, the Landscape Director, seemed intent on giving me the two bids that were already prepared, and defending his employee. He handed me the proposals and said his employee emailed and mailed them to me, and "he doesn't lie!

I am wondering how a Landscape Bid has turned into drama and feel offended by the way he said "he doesn't lie". I asked him, so you think I am lying? I never received the bids? Brett pats me on the back and says, well lets just get past this, and tells me, to get back to him if I want to work with him. I never even had the chance to talk to him about the additional grading.?

I proceeded to call the office and discuss what had transpired so far. We were not off to a good start, but I still wanted to work with Barnes, and get a bid on the additional grading I need done. I was told I would receive a call back. To my absolute amazement, Shelly called me back to apologize for the way I felt, and that Barnes did not want to work with me! What?

I am asking you all, how you would feel in that situation. "Jeremy doesn't lie", does that statement not imply someone is lying? I still don't know how it came down to someone lying and do not know why Brett even brought "lying" in the picture. I want the work done, I never received a call back or a proposal, I am anxious to proceed with the work, so I guess I am going to pretend I didn't receive any word when I actually did? Does that even make sense to anyone?

I simply need some Landscaping done, I would like to get started, and now Barnes has told me they will not work with me. If you choose to work with Barnes, I would suggest, waiting until they are good and ready to respond, don't EVER complain about the time in which it takes them to get back to you. Please don't ever EVER say anything derogatory about any of their employees.

They get very defensive, turn it into drama instead of good business, and turn the customer away to continue the bleeding rather than work anything out. I am very disappointed with the unprofessional manner I was treated by Barnes. I still need the Landscaping done and have to start over. I would like to say Pam at the front desk displayed more professionalism than anyone else I spoke to at Barnes. She was great to speak with and kept the ball rolling! Thank you Pam!

Can I go lower than one star? Right now I sure want to go lower. I have not yet had the chance to experience their service. I had an appointment to get an estimate. They were a no show for the appointment. When I called Brett (the sales person I had the appointment with). He was a half hour late and an hour away. I was told "I guess this is just not going to work" AND WAS HUNG UP ON.

It was no accident; his attitude made it obvious it was intentional. Very professional, Brett. I can't believe that he represents Barnes (they seem to have a good rep), but, hanging up on someone is very rude and unprofessional. Avoid Brett at all costs. I have called the company and they have scheduled someone else to come out to the house. We will see how it goes. The expereince still applies though -- AVOID BRETT!
