I have had aeration and seeding and the Plan Maintenance program since 2020 and have not seen any improvement in the quality of my lawn. I previously received letters at the beginning of the new new plan year offering a incentive to prepay for a slight reduction in cost. They treated my yard the past two years in early January without any notification or offer to prepay.

Last year I called after the first service and was given the option to prepay. Since I have seen no improvement with my lawn I was planning on cancelling their service for this plan year. I feel they provide the services based on what is convenient for them and not at the optimal times for the lawn. The individual I spoke to stated they have gone paperless and that I was sent emails and then in his next next breath he stated he sees where a letter was mailed to me on 1/5/22.

Kind of a contradiction from paperless. In my opinion the service is not worth the cost. I never had any issues with the lawn care staff I just have not seen any improvement in my lawn.

Last year I decided that walking the yard to fertilize was painful and we had so many weeds and in January lots of dead brown spots.like a lot of reviews I have had concerns. I called with guesting were given answers. I decided to do lime and aerating, and seeding, after looking at the yard I could not find a lot of seed.in the summer I added my back yard to the program.

I was unable to get the back yard aerating and seed added its a lot of money.after the first year and looking at how well my seed came upon yard looks. SO MUCH BETTER! I JUST NEED TO BE MORE PATIENT fixing my yard will take time. 400%better after 1 yearI can't wait to see after this year it's the middle of January and the deer love it

I've been using Virginia Green for a few years and their treatments work wonders, but unfortunately I think they've gotten too busy to manage their customers well. I had 4 separate conversations about adding my back yard to our service plan and having it seeded and aerated this year. Every time I talked to them, no one could find notes from previous calls and the back yard wasn't included.

I finally got someone to quote it and they were about 25% off on the square footage of my yard, so i asked that they send someone to roughly measure. After all of the hassle they still didn't end up seeding the back yard. Meanwhile, while that was going on, I spent a day trenching in a new sprinkler system. I got an email with a bill saying that the tech had been out to service the yard while I was in the middle of it trenching. no one could have possibly serviced it without me noticing. Anyhow, I've canceled and don't imagine I'll be back.

Absolute awesome - can't go wrong with them! Professional and "good" quality! They have gone far and beyond with our lawn (looks real good!). Craig has visited our home after work and over weekends (check up and assist) he even blowed leaves of our lawn with his own blower! Virginia Green all the way for us! Service: Seeding

I can't get anyone to call me back. I stopped calling because I can't spend all my time trying to get a reply. They have no problem taking my money after performing a treatment. My side lawn has not been touched ONCE since I signed up. They came to aerate and also did not do my side yard but have no problem charging me for all of the incomplete services.

I even spoke with the perimeter pest control service person and explained to them what was going on.they said they would let someone know and STILL NOTHING! At this point, I am going to dispute the charges through my bank. I am so done. If I could give ZERO stars I WOULD!

Paid for my lawn to be aerated and seeded. The guy shows up and tells me he needed the sprinkler system to be flagged and this was all in an email sent out the prior week. I told them I had no idea i needed to be checking my email so did not know I needed to flag the sprinklers. He said "Thats not our fault. This is 2021 you should be checking your email." Fair enough, but is that really you something you say to a paying customer?

Then he told me since there were no flags, we would have to reschedule and they wouldn't be able to come back out until early November. Again, fair enough. I probably should have checked my email. Maybe I'm crazy, but I thought this was a bit rude and irritating, and because of my less than smooth interactions with the service individual this morning, I no longer trust in the level of service that this company will provide.

Do not use this company. They will bill you services you never agree to. They apparently showed up and did them while I was out of state as well. Dont even call them, apparently thats a verbal agreement.

I've never dealt with such an unresponsive, unreliable company in my life. I paid a lot of money for aeration and "over seeding" and I got aeration. I got home on September 8th and saw not one seed of grass on my entire lawn. Left a message with no return call. Called again with no return call. Called again and was told someone stopped by my home and seeded my lawn. Great! Got home and saw zero seed. I will get my money back and already called my lawyer. Do not give your hard earned money to Virginia Green. Extremely unresponsive and they don't do the right thing.

It pains me to give VA Green a negative review after years of great service and results. This years re-seeding was terrible. Fewer staff using large equipment that did not seed my edges and missed spots. This after raising their prices.! They are still good for all the chemicals needed to keep fescue grass lush but success has caused them to act like any other large corporation cutting service and raising prices. Comments left for customer are no longer personalized but computer generated general instructions such as raise mower height and water more.

We recently ordered aeration and overseeding services from VG which left a hole in one of the irrigation lines in our backyard. When we called, they said the line should be 12 underground, so they aren't liable. No apology, additional information, nothing. Just 'sorry, not our problem - bye!' Didn't feel very customer service oriented to me.

The puncture is about 3' away from a head. but they came the day after all those flash flood warnings at the beginning of September, when everything was muddy. They made quite an uneven mess of mud and trenches with the machine and popped a hole in an irrigation line. My guess is the machine sunk down in the mud and punctured the pipe, but who knows how it happened.

I guess we're lucky if it was just the one! We are new to irrigation, and I'm fine if it's not their liability, but I'd at least like to learn how to prevent it, if they should have tried to reschedule due to rain/mud, was it normal for the seed to be so thin (I could have sent pics -- maybe it's just a not so great employee -- they also wrapped the swings around the playset and didn't put them back) -- we went back out and added more seed to several bare areas. Heck, maybe they could have offered a reference for someone to fix the pipe?

It would have been nice to have some empathy and concern, as this is our first time living in a house with an irrigation system -- we don't know what we don't know! Looks like we will pay to fix it and cross our fingers it doesn't happen next time we aerate. Hopefully, the next company can provide more info on how to not break the irrigation system when aerating. IMHO, lesson learned: don't use their aeration and overseeding services!

Critical: Quality Called to get help with my lawn. $21.oo for seed that never came. And $47 bucks for a Tech to spend 5min putting fertilizer on it. I can do that. I have to say it was not the Teach, its the service they offer. Canceled after one day

Had heard generally positive comments about VaGreen so decided to try them - learned quickly that what might have been a good company at one time, was no longer; seemingly got too big and forgot about customer service and retention. Simply, just about the worst customer service and communication that I have ever encountered. Signed up for service via the phone. Had a detailed discussion with the representative regarding prices and treatments.

He did not mention doing a walkthrough (just asked about the size of the yard) so I asked - he indicated that he would come by and take a look (apparently he did so as he emailed later that my yard "really needs help.) I had other questions for the account manager and wanted to provided some input on what parts of the yard require attention and what parts (e.g., dog's area) do not.

Those messages were not answered. Sent additional emails asking for a reply - no replies. Was surprised, then, early one morning when a technician showed up: very pleasant but confused gentleman who indicated that my account did not contain any information about the yard, the boundaries, dimensions, etc. I provided a brief explanation but he continued to seem uncertain - but moved ahead with the "treatment." Am not sure what he actually did as 15 minutes later, when I went outside to look for him, he was gone.

I then sent additional messages to account rep - no replies. I then terminated the service; at which point the "boss" got involved and wanted lots of information. Too late: much aggravation; one expensive "service"; and back to searching for a reliable company. Would recommend strongly that VirginiaGreen be avoided.

Have been a customer for 13 years and have to say that customer service has definitely gone down hill. When we 1st started with them it was easy to get some one on the phone, or at least a prompt call back. This morning I waited on hold for 25 minutes before a human picked up - it was their answering service, not someone who could help - all they did was take my name and info.

I believe this organization just isn't interested in keeping customers as I see lots of advertising for new customers and constantly receive emails from them to upgrade services ( we have been on the estate plan for 13 years) - but when you need them it takes days to respond - forget about calling unless you have time to spare. We will definately explore alternative services after this years contract expires, hopefully find a more customer centric organization.

I contracted with Va. Green for regular lawn care in Jun. 2020--the first treatment was 6/10/'20--aerated/seeded in the Fall--through the Fall and Winter the grass grew and the lawn looked great--by the Spring of 2021 it was lush and green--as advertised--may 2021 it was the way I had hoped it would be. June. 9th. 2021 the company came and sprayed fungacide within two weeks sections of the lawn began to dry up--grass turned brown--in spite of rain and watering. July 7th. they came and sprayed lime--that treatment pushed the lawn further toward drying up--during this time we had rain and in between I watered every couple of days--right now most of my back yard is brown and the grass is thin and unhealthy looking--my front yard looks the same.

My beautiful green lawn disappeared after two treatments and in less that three weeks. I reported the problem on Jul. 22nd.--on Jul. 23rd. a nice young man ( Ben) showed up and walked the yard with me pointing out all my shade and 'sun' problems--he told me I should NOT expect my lawn to be 'green' year round --that in our area ( Woodlake) growing grass was problematic because of all the trees--I pointed out that a year earlier their rep. told me that wasn't a problem because they accounted for the shade with the type of grass they planted--that their 'promise' was a green lawn YEAR ROUND! Ben then attempted to 'educate' me re. the fact that grass was a natural, living organism and not like an automobile?

After listening to this young man's BS for a few min. I informed him that I was old--not stupid! I'll be seeking another opinion --and another company--not because they made a mistake (s) but because they refused to acknowledge same--

Virginia green is the 3rd company I have used. They are great. I have now had them for 2 yrs & the improvement is super noticeable. Two of my neighbors started using them after seeing their results. Our tech, is very conscientious caring of your needs & most important of all, knowledgeable about horticulture. What a pleasure to work with a professional as opposed to someone just laying down fertilizer or any othe chemical & cant wait to get to his next stop. Thank you Thomas & Virginia Green

2021 would have been our second season with Virginia Green. In 2020, we used them to control weeds on our Zoysia lawn and, even though they claimed to not have a "warm season grass" program, the treatments that they provided made remarkable improvements in our lawn. The problems began when they performed a Fall aeration without notifying me that there was an additional charge for it ( and I even tipped the technician for his hard work that day ). Then, when the 2021 season was beginning, I was notified that their services were "automatically renewed unless cancelled" -- At no time was this explained to me and I informed them that ANY charges from Virginia Green without my explicit authorization would be disputed as unauthorized.

In March 2021, we decided to enroll in their lawn maintenance program and prepaid for the annual service. When we were advised that the first service was scheduled, I specifically asked Rob if the "pre-emergent" would have any detrimental effect on the dormant Zoysia grass and I was assured that it would not. Shortly after the treatment, it was apparent that Rob's assurance was nothing more than lip service, as the Zoysia that had spread to my neighbors lawns had turned green and was flourishing while ours was obviously dead.

After advising Rob of this, I was told that it was likely due to a fungi that Zoysia is susceptible to and someone would be out to look at the lawn. Although there was no explanation given as to why the "fungi" attacked and killed ONLY the Zoysia that Virginia Green had treated on our front yard -- not the Zoysia on our neighbors lawns and not the Zoysia on our back yard.

A few days later, Eugene came out to inspect the lawn and advised that our lawn contained "very little Zoysia grass" and was "85% - 90% Fescue and only 10% - 15% Zoysia" and was referring me to their "cool season grass" program. Mistakes are a part of human nature and I would never fault someone for making an honest mistake BUT, when they make that mistake and choose to make lame excuses instead of owning up to it and correcting it, that invalidates any confidence that I would otherwise have in them. "Lame excuses" is ALL I got from Virginia Green at every turn.

I PERSONALLY planted over 3000 plugs of Zoysia grass in our front lawn and it was so well established that it had filled a large section of our neighbors lawns as well as our own. The ONLY reason that our lawn is now "85% - 90% Fescue" is because they killed the established, dormant Zoysia. I demanded a cancellation of our service agreement and a refund, which they provided but also deducted the one service that they provided that killed our lawn.

For years, I treated our lawn myself using readily available retail products from Scotts and Bayer and always had the best looking lawn on our street. I THOUGHT that having "professional" lawn care would be a step up but, instead, it erased years of hard work and my hard-earned money invested. Hopefully, our Zoysia will manage to recover or, we will replant next year but one thing is absolutely certain, Virginia Green will never set foot on our property again

I've had VA Green for 2 seasons now. Both times when they aerated, they managed to clip my irrigation system even though I flagged all the areas where they should have avoided. Couple hundred bucks out of pocket in repairs each time. Lesson learned: I'll never let VA Green aerate again. I have bare spots in my lawn despite VA Green having seeded my lawn for 2 years.

I called them early this spring and asked to purchase a bag of grass seed so I could attend to the bald spots myself. They said they would fix the bare spots for me free of charge -- but they didn't do it. and I reminded them 3 times. Would have been better if they had just sold me the grass seed instead of making a promise they didn't even bother to fulfill.

If they were more careful with their aeration and if they had seeded the bare spots like they promised, they would have had a 4 star review. Customer service rep was very nice on the phone. But it's results that matter, not empty promises.

Never have I seen my lawn more green or full. I had Trugreen for 7 months and saw no difference in my lawn. After 2 applications with Virginia Green, my lawn looks amazing. Kudos to Virginia Green. The only downside is I have to mow it every week now as it is growing so fast. THANKS VIRGINIA GREEN! Lol.

Why are you coming knocking on my door trying to have a conversation with me during work hours without wearing a mask? You should be ashamed of and fined for this behavior.

I've been with Virginia Green for well over 15 years for both lawn and shrub treatment. I wouldn't consider going with anyone else. Just had my annual over-seeding done and the technicians, Jovon and Adam, did a great job. They were very professional, efficient and friendly. They walked the yard with me before the service, asked for any specific concerns I had and answered all my questions.

Unimpressed. When I complained, I was told that we had only used them for a year and they could fix the rampant crabgrass but there would be an upcharge. The yard looks no better than it did when we started with them a year ago and it costs way more than going to the store and buying Scotts. We paid extra for aeration and seeding. We have an irrigation system so everything was watered regularly. We were told that it is hard to have a nice yard in Virginia. I guess they should move their business to a state where you can grow grass well.

So far not happy. After 3 applications my yard looks worst than when we started with VGLC. My husband and I don't know what is going on. We have so much weeds especially in the backyard and many dead patches. I called customer service to cancel and I was advised to wait until my 4th application so I have a chance to discuss what is going on with the technician.

Will update review as soon as I speak with technician and if I decide to officially cancel the services. Was really looking forward to a beautiful full green lawn. Unfortunately that's not what I have right now

Guess the tech was having a bad day and decided to only treat some of the yard. We have cameras all around our house and watched as he treated some areas an because his hose would not go to the end of our property he did not treat the entire area. Then he went to the side of our house, got his hose stuck under our car tire and tried pulling on it but it would not budge so he just decided not to treat that side of our yard.

He wrapped up his hose, got in his truck, put his face in his hands While leaning on the steering wheel, took a paper towel, wiped off his face the threw it on his dashboard like he was pissed off. After that he did whatever it is they do paperwork wise and drove off. We will not be paying for this half asses treatment.

We used VA green for over a year until today. We still have moss so I asked for a lime treatment. For 50# of lime which is about 5.00 at Home Depot I was charged $206.00! I assume they would use a better quality of lime but even if it was 20.00 a bag this is 'highway robbery'. The guy was at our house not even 5 minutes. I t made me realize we have wasted Response to reply---I was complaining about the price of the service not the moss. Over $200.00 for 5 min labor is ridiculous even adding travel time and employee charge could not account for this excessive price.

So they have been servicing my lawn since February. My lawn is now about 10% crab grass. I called the company to report the problem and hopefully get them to address it. Whomever I spoke with told me crab grass is a grass so they don't treat for it. Is there anyone in VA that considers crab grass something other than a weed. Gotta find a new lawn service

My yard was infested with a few types of weeds and refused to grow lush grass. After two years of fighting and wasting money at Lowe's I called VGLC to help me. After a year of use the weeds were gone and my lawn has never looked better (deep green, thick and healthy). I do recommend them but unfortunately I cancelled my service because the $47 visits quickly add up and I thought I was capable of managing my lawn at this point. Virginia Green calls before they arrive and will answer any questions you have, no matter how dumb haha. To me it seems like they really care about the customer. Thanks VGLC!
