Alden R. Zove is President of Cedar Run Landscapes, which is celebrating its 39th Anniversary this year. Cedar Run specializes in water garden installations, rainwater harvesting systems, eco-sensitive design practices including permeable pavements, LED lighting, native plantings and environmentally sensitive maintenance practices.
The most important rule to follow when trying to implement a successful garden is placing the right plant in the right place. So often we come across landscape designs that are underperforming or just struggling to survive because those plants are unhappy with their living conditions. Our North Wales landscaping company assures you that our experienced and knowledgeable staff will site all plant material where they are most likely to flourish. We will also pay close attention to the quality of the soil that our plantings are placed in.
Often thought as the backbone of the landscaping plan, hardscaping provides an aesthetic contrast to the ever-changing plant life in the garden. I had a vision for landscaping my front yard. Alden brought that vision to life. He planned out the bushes, plants and grasses that would do well in full sun and compliment each other. Curtis and the crew have been working on our property for many years. Curtis has regularly cleaned and maintained the small pond, and is responsive to scheduling the maintenance as well as the other crew members to do a spring and fall clean up of my woodland garden. Cedar Run has allowed me to be creative with my yard! How many landscapers can offer this empowered resource without feeling professionally challenged? Over the past 6+ yrs I have developed an excellent, reliable rapport with the field foreman. The product quality is always exceptional, and the crew is neat, respectful, and efficient in executing their work. My wish is that other potential clients will also be inclined to have this same experience.

When dealing with contractors, they frequently send less experienced help to investigate your problem. Not Cedar Run Landscapes. The guy who shows up at my doorstep is the most knowledgeable guy in the company, the President himself! No pushy sales person, just the best consultant! He immediately assesses my situation, saying that if his free advice didn't work (which he expected it would) just call him directly.
Though my immediate problem will probably be solved with his advice, I know that this is a professionally run company. The owner tells me that he started the business 40 years ago - I think he and his family will be successful for another 40+ years. This company is a class act!

Cedar Run was assigned to me through the Philadelphia Rain Check program, and I could not be more impressed! Alden was clear and informative in his communications both before and after. During the estimate, he answered all of my questions and was perfectly happy to produce two different proposals at two price points so that I could review both. Unfortunately, we won't be moving forward right now because of the expense - but that is because of our particular circumstances (our whole yard is concrete and depaving turns out to be more costly than we hoped). I definitely recommend Cedar Run!

Wonderful experience from start to finish. Alden came out immediately to provide the estimate and provided a very detailed specification. The delivery of the product was on time and on budget. His team leader was fantastic and took extreme care to make sure the bricks were exactly level. Nothing was haphazardly placed. The finished product makes our front yard look the best among our neighbors, if I don't mind saying so. Will use him again.

Very discouraged when attempting to work with Cedar Run Landscapes through the Philadelphia Water Department Rain Check program. It became clear that Cedar Run could not take direction or stick to a proscribed budget. We ultimately could not work with Cedar Run Landscapes for these reasons. It was a disappointing and discouraging experience.

It was a pleasure to work with Alden and their designer Kaitlyn on the design of my patio and water garden. They both did a very good job in discussing what I wanted to get out of my new landscape project, and asked some great questions about how I would be using the new area with my family and friends. They even wanted to go inside the home to see how the patio and water feature would look from the kitchen and family room.
They took the time to ask about my family, and I did not think to tell them that I have a mom who has trouble walking, but they asked if anyone had mobility issues, and made some accommodations in the plan so she would be able to use the patio without needing anyone to help her get onto it. We have not had the project installed yet, but if the reviews that I read about them on Angie's list are right, which has always been the case with other contractors I used from there, I am sure the project will come out perfectly! They presented me with a really nice design that had pictures and let me see exactly what the project will look like when it is finished. We can't wait.
