Dunn Gardens We preserve and enhance Dunn Gardens as a public resource, celebrating the original 1915 Olmsted design and showcasing the evolution of garden design in the Pacific Northwest. Preservation of the Dunn Gardens is dependent on your generosity and we thank you for your support. You can donate to the Dunn Gardens Endowment, General Funding, or for a specific purpose.

Your gifts are tax-deductible. We invite you to rent a room for your next small event in our private garden setting. It is an ideal location for a quiet corporate retreat or meeting, a self-catered meal, cocktail party, picnic, or a micro-wedding ceremony.

In 1914, Arthur Dunn purchased 10 acres of undeveloped rural land in what is now the Broadview neighborhood of Seattle. The gently sloping property was extensively wooded, had ample open space for garden development, and commanded sweeping views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains to the west.
Members and up to four guests are welcome to wander the grounds Monday through Saturday between 9 am and 4 pm. Please park on Northshire Dr NW, taking care not to block driveways nor both sides of the street. Although we love dogs, we ask that you leave your four-legged friends at home. Dunn Gardens is open to the public for docent-led guided tours.
Go past three houses on right, then turn RIGHT into our entrance marked by two brick pillars with an open white gate. Keep LEFT at the first fork, following the small green signs, LEFT at the second fork, then take the next RIGHT which loops in front of our grey two-story cottage.
Do you have a large group of gardening friends or belong to an organization that fancies a day out? Private tours of 8 people or more can be arranged at both regularly scheduled times or outside of scheduled times. If you wish to arrange a group tour please contact the office at 206-362-0933 or info@dunngardens.org to make the booking. Please note that group tours must be prepaid and booking at least 4 weeks in advance is appreciated.

As a wedding planner and designer, my team and I have done two weddings at Dunn Gardens gardens and absolutely love this venue! The gardens are private, rich with history, expansive, and obviously beautiful. Their venue coordinator, Caroline, is knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. We hope to be back soon.

What an amazing park. The colors of the flowering trees and bushes are breathtaking. Love the peace the park provides for relaxation in the midst of a busy city.

Very nice small(ish) intimate garden. 10$ donation per adult, but a membership for the year is $100 and provides for children and 4 additional adults per visit. A little difficult to find the entrance (It is a reasonably sized gate to drive through between two regular houses). It is very well maintained and has several different areas with a good variety of plants. There are three private houses that are owned by the founders of the garden. TL/DR: Good variety, well upkept, hard to find the first time.

Cool hidden little park in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Not that big but fun to explore and picnic in.

Dunn Gardens is a 7-acre garden open to the public, hosting numerous educational and social events during the year. The garden was designed by the Olmsted brothers over 100 years ago. Dunn Gardens has a great website also. The gardens are fascinating in all seasons of the year, offering a different pallete of colors and textures. They often have plants for sale at great prices.

A lovely garden to visit right in the middle of a Seattle housing development. We visited the day before the docent tours started, but it allowed us to stroll around the grounds on our own and just take in the beauty. Not a tremendously large garden, but it has a lot to take in. We probably spent about 30-45 minutes following the roads and small trails. Looks like it would be a great place to host private events. Would love to be able to see what's blooming at each season. You should visit.

Beautiful garden but go slowly trying to find the entrance or you will miss it as it is quite narrow and nestled in between two homes!

They are only accepting appointments due to covid, I made an apt for my children and I. The day we explored the garden there was a beautiful harp/music duo making a music video on the property. We explored the garden with the tunes of their music in the background and it made it so enjoyable as we walked the property. The entrance to the gardens is quiet tricky to spot but I called to ask for help and they were so so so helpful pointing me to where to go, even walking out to the street to direct us in the correct area. In all we would definitely come back and explore this garden. It's a hidden gem in Seattle. It's free to make an apt, but a donation goes along way.

Okay. I really don't know where to begin. Dunn Gardens is INCREDIBLE. It was a magical experience from the moment I spoke to Carolyn on the phone, to the moment we toured DG as our first (and only) venue, to the moment we tied the knot on the Tennis Green. For starters, Dunn Gardens is a seven and a half-acre ENORMOUS venue, with incredible photo ops everywhere you walk.

There are three huge garden areas that are all priced into your wedding plan. There are secret lil paths, picturesque cottages, and flowers EVERYWHERE. We bought the package for the whole garden and are so glad about our choice. There was so much room there, we could have fit 200+ guests, however due to COVID-19, that obviously didn't happen. Carolyn was there at 9 am the morning of and she was ready to work.

She set out parking cones, helped up us set up a router for our wedding Livestream and so much more. Carolyn - if you read this - thank you so much for all you did - you really helped make our special day that much more special. Perks of using Dunn for your special day: There are a ton of areas that you can use for your ceremony and after-party, they don't have a list of people you are required to work with so you can bring whoever you want to help make your day special (bouncy houses, cotton candy machines, photobooths - you name it!) -- the one thing they do ask is that you use CORT or Alexander for tent rental - their prices are totally reasonable and seeing as its an outdoor venue, you might want to book a tent.

They are incredibly helpful in offering up whatever you need - you can start dropping off stuff for your wedding the Thursday before and pick it up the next Monday, they have a ton of things leftover from other weddings that you are free to use - lanterns for tealight candles, about 50 wooden chairs, tons of linens and so much more. No matter what you envision for your special day, they will help make it happen.

As an added perk, because DG is a non-profit, a part of your payment for the rental gives you a tax break and a membership to the garden! This really was the best place to get married and I HIGHLY suggest taking a tour. ---- Additionally, I would HIGHLY suggest taking some time to visit here, they have scheduled visits for TEN BUCKS, where you can spend time exploring, picnicking, and just breathing. It is truly incredible

I recently found out about Dunn Gardens through my friend Sam, a knowledgeable horticulture expert who considers this place to be as close to heaven as an earthly garden can get. The information on a previous review that states that Dunn Gardens is "open for guided tours only" is very recently no longer correct. The Gardens now have a $50 annual membership which includes unguided "wanders" of the grounds on Tuesday and Friday afternoons from 10am - 2pm.

I was actually surprised to read on one of the reviews that the Garden does not allow dogs, since there was an unleashed dog on the grounds during one of my "wanders" who belonged to one of the staff members. I turned a corner feeling very relaxed and the dog unfortunately growled at me. I love animals in general and almost all animals tend to love me too, so this growl unsettled me and I mentioned this to the dog's owner who replied by saying that the dog was going through a hard time and was "scared." Hm okay, maybe think about leashing him during wander times then?

There are two small lawns and the Gardens staff was mowing the lawns during one of my wanders as well. Minor complaint and not a huge deal but I'd prefer that the lawn-mowing be done some other time since it is a bit loud and since the wander times are short, limited, pre-planned, and hopefully intended to be relaxing for members. Beautiful place though. Designed by the Olmsted brothers as a fusion of woodland gardens, japanese gardens, and native/local plant gardens. I'm happy I found out about this place, and glad to be a member.

The summer of 2019 is upon us and the best way to experience the joy of summer is a walk in a garden that has been in existence since 1915. The grounds sparkle the perennial flower beds are like tapestry rugs and a walk in the wooded glad may get you a glimpse of the famed white rabbit, he just may ask you to tea

Beautiful and quiet grounds with so many kinds of plants and flowers. Loved the sitting room with the big skylights. A little tough to find from the main street since there isn't much signage. Nestled into a residential neighborhood so at times I wasn't sure if where the garden ended and someone's backyard began but still lovely nonetheless

Amazing, beautiful Garden, well designed, organized and maintained and designed, very informative. It's open to public but you have to go only with appointment, because it's only group tours and you have to get the ticket which is only $10. They have special picnic days, you can go with your food and have nice picnic over there, I'm also they doing weddings but not too many, because lack of parking space and also residents live in the property. You can buy ticket online or you can buy over there it was easy. I am definitely going to go back.

I attended a fund raising concert here last summer. Who knew this hidden gem existed? Most people I've asked never heard about it.it's unbelievable how this beautiful garden is hidden in the residential neighbor. Looking forward to visiting the gardens during a different season to see it in a different light and with a variety of different foliage. Would like to go on the tour one day or go to the Alice Wonder Event they have annually.

A hidden away Seattle jewel! This is Frederick Law Olmsted's artistic vision thriving after 100 years. The variety of rhodies, azaleas, hostas and magnolias is truly stunning! A major plus is that they do not allow dogs, so you will not be tripping over them on the tour.

If you are interested in Seattle history, do check out this park! The park is open to the public for GUIDED TOURS ONLY- so call ahead and make reservations. It's $10 for the tour. I was invited by a friend to take the tour with her. It's truly a stunning park! I cannot wait to go check out the other seasons. I learned more about what type of plants grow in the NW.

The park does host events/fundraisers during the different seasons. It also gave me ideas of what types of flowers/plants I would like to add into my yard. Pro: Beautiful park, great history, nice walk, educational Cons: no dogs allowed
