J&S Landscape doesn't have a sensational history. It's actually a simple tale of two go-getter kids, Scott Haugland and Jay Froshing. They knew what they wanted and went after it. Like many kids in the early 70s, Scott was a dedicated viewer of the TV series "The Dukes of Hazard." The stars of that series would race from scene to scene in a souped-up 1969 Dodge Charger, the favored hot-rod sports car of the day.

Mike developed a super plan for a small backyard and Scott and crew executed with professionalism. After two years it has matured nicely. Mike recently spent considerable time with me looking at the progress and making suggestions for changes and additions to enhance the design. Thoroughly pleased with their support and performance.

I am very pleased with the work that J & S delivered for my backyard (new build in Erie). Ryan and team were very thoughtful, and exceeded our expectations with the patio and water feature. The pricing was very fair, and we got good value for our investment. They followed up with winter maintenance tips, and have been quick to answer questions. I would recommend this company!

Great people to work with and outstanding work. We moved into a newly constructed home this year that needed the entire backyard landscaped. Scott worked with us to create a design that we were happy with, presenting a proposal then tweaking based on our input, including plant selection and placement. It was a very personal, hands-on approach. Scott provided and estimate based on the design, with all details, and the project came in right on the numbers - no surprises.
The work was done in a little over a week and everyone on the crew was professional, easy to work with, and clearly took pride in their work. For example, sprinkler placement, while planned out, was adjusted on-site where need; trees were placed in final spots based on our input at the time; accent boulders carefully placed to maximize their appearance, and clean-up done at the end of each day. The company and everyone we worked with could not have been better. Very highly recommended!

J&S just transformed our yard and we could not be happier with their work. Their price was not cheap, but was reasonable and much lower than other companies in the same tier. They worked with us to fix a flagstone patio we thought we had to replace, and did a lot of other work such as re-grading and putting down sod. Scott (the owner) and mike were great to work with. They also had a big crew and completed the work quickly.

5-star review Superlatives are often questionable, but believe this one: J&S is the best landscaper my husband and I have worked with over many, many years of building new houses. Scott Haugland's execution and management combined with his and Mike Woods' design of our new home's landscape plan was exceptional. The entire project was such a pleasure to experience as the crews arrived promptly, worked long hours and were clearly experienced and specialized in each area of their responsibility.
From plants to hardscape to fencing to a bocce court, the work was done in a caring, accommodating, professional manner. Scott is an outstanding leader and gentleman, whose crew obviously respects his leadership. We really appreciated and recognized that Scott, who has been in the business since he was a teenager, was at our home every day bright and early to ensure crews, supplies and materials were arriving just as they were needed and planned.
He continues to stop by to ensure the systems are working as appropriate. Scott and Mike were a pleasure to work with, and the various J&S crews were incredibly committed, polite and hard working. Their attention to detail is unsurpassed. We could not be happier with what we consider a beautiful enhancement to our new home and the neighborhood. J&S is simply the best.

We couldn't have been happier. Mike's design reflected his knowledge of plants that do well in our area, his talent for design, and genuine interest in what we wanted. The crew's workmanship was excellent and they were pleasant to work with - always being careful to cleanup each day. Once the project started, they came every day until the it was completed. Scott was always available to answer questions and there was followup by Scott and his crew that is rare nowadays. We will definitely use them again.

Exceptional customer service. I would not hesitate to recommend Scott, Mike and the whole J&S Team to a family member or friend. We had them redo the entire landscaping in the front of our house - and gave minimal guidance and let Mike use his experience and artistic vision. The project came out great and we feel it truly added to the value of our house. I will be coming back to them for the backyard and any future landscaping projects.

Wonderful experience with this company! We have used them for at least 8 years and keep coming back. They have installed our koi pond, done yard maintenance, taught us how to care for our plants, helped us after the flood and show up whenever we call with a problem. I feel really blessed to have Mike and his team helping us to make our yard look the best it can!

In less than a year, the flagstone patio installed by J & S started falling apart. It was laid on sand with some flexible grout that degraded after a season. Large buff stone steps were laid on directly on top of topsoil! And, of course they quickly started shifting. The plants were no better. Consultation with experts subsequently revealed that many plants were planted in inappropriate sun/shade locations. J & S seemingly gave us the tiniest, scrawny plant specimens they could obtain. Furthermore, we feel they advised us poorly on plant choices and gave us a terrible, off-kilter plant layout. Now, less than 2 years later, we are having EVERYTHING redone. We wasted ~$50K with J & S.

J&S Landscaping was great to work with. Rob Kinion was our project manager. He was extremely knowledgable and reliable and had an artistic finesse with the design, and with the placement of boulders and plantings. The work crew was also very talented and hard working. We love the result. Rob continues to check on the landscaping to help us assure the plants continue to thrive.
