Bill Slevin at LandDesign NJ www.landdesignnj.com did work at our property. We spent over $10000 to have his team redesign our back yard after a home addition. Included in the work his team did was the planting of 30 trees, 12 of which were identical Leland Cyprus over 8' tall. After 60 days, one of the 12 became very brown over 80%. We called Bill just before 4th of July (we were having a party and the tree was a serious eyesore) and asked him to replace it sighting his one year "plant replacement guarantee". However, to our surprise his response was that our tree was not dead. Well, admittedly I am not a botanist (nor is he) but that tree sure looked dead to anyone and everyone who saw it.

Of the 30 trees he planted it was the only one that was nearly completely brown. His defense was sort of like saying a car is still running if can roll down hill, yes, it moves but eventually its going to stop, forever. We wound up purchasing a replacement tree at a nursery for less than 1/3 of what land design NJ initially charged us. Bill did agree to do the labor to replace it. Then, two weeks later when I asked for a $96 reimbursement in cash or services, he refused, again stating that the tree wasn't dead.

In our opinion- buyer beware of www.landdesignnj.com Landdesign NJ and Bill Slevin of the Slevin Group - they clearly have no intention of replacing plants that die and will argue over small issues despite losing a good customer in the process. We have neighbors that use another landscape service, they had a similar situation with 6 out of 10 trees going almost all brown and the contractor replaced them immediately at no charge. We should have used them.
