What type of fertilizer is best for my lawn, and when should I fertilize? We suggest that you test your soil every two to three years to monitor the levels of the three nutrients in fertilizer. For lawns in most parts of Texas, a ratio of 3-1-2 (e.g., 15-5-10) on the label works best, and a slow-release fertilizer is a must.
