Miller Farms became a nursery in 1963 when brothers Don and Dick Miller received their first nursery business license. Prior to then it was the Miller Farm, an 80-acre family farm which they worked on with their parents Herb and Evelyn. The original Miller Farm had acres of planted potatoes, raised 12,000 chickens a year and had 150 head of dairy cows.

I enjoy how accessible this location is as well as how they keep up on their orders. However, their prices are often higher then the local competitors.

The best nursery in Humboldt. The staff are amazing and the selection is wide. They have hundreds of trees, shrubs, ornamentals, anything you could want in our climate. And everything I have bought has thrived. We did our backyard in their sod- and 3 years later it's still thriving. I live in Fortuna and my only complaint is that I wish it was closer!

Great place, excellent selection of plants and tools. The saw shop is of high quality as well; both stihl and husky.

You can hardly live in Humboldt without needing this company, from gravel to generator's. They have it all and at good prices.

The photos should say it all but I do want to mention how rude and pompous the owner, Ross Miller, is. We spent over $18K on demo and new concrete patio + French drain. There were a lot of details to this project that we tried to get described in our contract and each time we reached out about something, Ross acted like we were bothering him. He told me he had to charge me an extra $100 for all the extra work I was causing him!

This was a big job and I was just trying to ensure we didn't get ripped off. Well we ended up getting ripped off. First, he did not follow what we did have in writing and knowingly admitted to making decisions AFTER we had agreed on them, causing us more work and $$ after the job was done. Secondly, the work was shotty at best. I'm no expert on concrete but I've now had to do a lot of research and I can tell you that these guys are not professionals.

The concrete appeared blotchy almost immediately after it cured (30 days) and Ross kept saying to give it time. Well we waited almost a year and it still looked horrible. In addition, they did not add enough expansion joints and cracks stated appearing right away. Ross later told me "they forgot." And while the guys were demo'ing the old patio they hit the side of our house causing damage (see photos) and I gave them a pass on that Bc we're gonna re-do our siding soon anyways.

But that in addition to everything else is what ultimately led me having to file a complaint with the licensing board. Ross basically told us to go pound sand when we asked if Miller Farms was going to fix the unsightly blotchiness and I couldn't even believe it. He said this is what happens in Humboldt and they don't "control the weather." Under no circumstances was I led to believe I was going to receive anything but a nice-looking, newly poured concrete patio before I entered contract with this company.

Why didn't they say this could happen? And to not even offer anything after the fact so that the customer is happy. What company treats their high paying customers like that? The guy is a real jerk and I would never hire this firm again on any project. It was at least entertaining to see how much his tune changed after CSLB got involved and we got him to fork back $2500.

They had to comeback and cut in the joints at 8-10 sq fr and they acted like they were so bothered that I, the customer, wanted industry standards! I know if we pursued this with CSLB, they would have judged them in the wrong due to false advertising and contract violations. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Don't give these yahoo's your money.

I am so grateful for the help and wealth of knowledge from Juan who helped me select a lemon tree and also on how to make it thrive. This place is massive with a great selection. I look forward to shopping here again!

Over the decades, I've felt the shop staff were a bit condescending and could be fairly short tempered. In spite of that, I purchased a Husqvarna lawn mower last summer from them. This spring, after keeping it covered and removing the old fuel and putting in new beforehand, the mower would not start. This is my first mower without a choke or primer push button, so after six or seven pulls, and referring to the owner's manual (which was useless) I called the shop.

I asked if they had any tips for spring startup and they bluntly said "we don't give telephone advice, you'll have to bring it in, we're $90 per hour plus parts, and we're pretty busy, backed up one to two weeks". That was it. So I scratched my brain and remembered starter fluid. one squirt and it started and ran perfectly. Obviously the "automatic choke" is not as automatic as it could be, and needed a little help. I'm done with Miller farms shop. I'll go somewhere else. I Like the nursery fine

Love this place but I don't understand why the ladies who answer the phone have to be so rude.

Stopped while passing through town. The selection is unreal and the staff is super helpful. Checked in on me while I was browsing and even helped me research my home growing zone to see which plants would be compatible for where I live. So glad I stopped. A lovely experience all around.

I stopped by the powershop last weekend and had a great customer service experience. The place was very busy and despite having a line and the phone constantly ringing, the gentleman at the counter was very attentive. He helped me ID the mower I had and took the time to hunt down a few missing nuts and a gasket I needed. Great service even for a $2.50 sale. Thank you for being there and maintaining your attention to service during these times of quarantine.

Dropped off my Stihl gas trimmer for a quote to get repaired. Two weeks later I still have not heard back. I called to find out what's going on. They tell me the parts are on order. This has me concerned when I asked for a quote and instead was forced into a repair without knowing the cost? Very UN professional.

If you are visiting northern coast of California and have a free day where you would like to wander off and get lost at a nursery nearby Humboldt Redwoods, come spend it leisurely at the big Miller Farms Nursery! It appears that the locals do shop here so I feel at eased calling ahead and checking Covid19 hours before heading over. New time is posted in picture below.

There are about 4-5 farms in 10 miles radius. This is definitely one I highly recommend to visit in addition to Mad River Nursery. My purpose check out plants local to the region and also my favorites succulents. They have both and many more! Pots pots pots and plants plenty to chose from, to buy, or to admire. Let me tell you I want to buy them all so selection is a solid one.

On everything else but succulents. Statutes, fountains, rocks, sand etc etc. There is a new policy wear your mask and stand 6 feet apart! Although most plants I look at I fall in love with and I couldn't help appreciate the selection I am saddened to say their pricing as are steeper than where can thanks for resources I am able to get my hands on.

I buy all my landscaping equipment from the power shop. It is always the best of service, and the highest quality repairs. Very satisfied, I wish more businesses would have this kind of quality service.

Very helpful staff! Great prices and selection on plants and trees. They bring in affordable bare root trees early in the planting season. Nice selection of statues, ponds, planters, and garden accessories. If you don't see something you want just ask!

This place is cute. Some of the people here are helpful. But some are kind of rude.it's expected with customer service. Older woman are always so intimidated of me.wonder why. But if I feel confident enough to carry my product I'm purchasing out myself; it's for a reason. I don't care about your 'job security' maybe you should care about it yourself. I kind of regret purchasing from here. Sure there are cute things.but when the customer service is wrong.you just get turned off by a place.

I bought an Oakleaf Hydrangea with lush, full foliage at Miller Farms today. The price was reasonable compared to other nurseries in the area. I saved so much I had to buy a beautiful Rhizomatous Begonia with round ruffled leaves the color of Cabernet Sauvignon. Next time, I'm going to get a metallic silver leafed angelwing begonia called Mirror. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Wonderful place.

I've always loved my trips north to Miller Farms as they have the most extensive nursery in the area. I recently have been using their landscaping services to do some major work in the yard. Their crew and I were always on the same wavelength when it came to the design. I am very happy with the work they did in phase one and I'm looking forward to phase two.

Nice selection of high quality power equipment. Staff is very knowledgeable about what they sell including parts for the equipment they sell. Only drawback is that they are sometimes so swamped with customers that they don't have a lot of time to answer questions. When they are not too busy they seem to be happy to answer all of your questions. I advise timing your visits to this store in a manner that helps you avoid the busy hours.

Miller Farms Nursery is the largest nursery in Mckinleyville selling everything from apple trees to zucchini starts. They have a huge selection of pottery, paving stones, and other supplies. There is even a plant clearance area at 50% off the regular prices. The staff has always been very knowledgable and accomodating. On the weekends they hold a workshop for all types of gardening events. It's always a pleasure shopping here for my landscaping needs.

Totally unprofessional. waited six weeks for them to come to my home for an estimate on a fence and gate, have now been waiting a month since then for them to email me that estimate. I have called four times now requesting it in the nicest way possible. last time was a week ago and the woman in charge of that department was extremely curt saying I would probably receive it the next day. I still haven't! I just tried to call again and guess what? No answer

Knowledgeable and well stocked. This is the go to garden place in McKinleyville. Also come here for power equipment repair. Ask them for recommendations on what to plant, when, and where. If your new to the garden scene ask about soils and nutrients.

Had a yard put in including sprinklers, spreading dirt, and hydro-seeding. I now have a nice large green growing yard. They showed up on time and did what they said they would. My only complaint was that when they ran the water pipe from under my house through the foundation vent, they busted out the screen. I discovered the problem when we heard mice scratching under the tub. Otherwise a job well done. All I need now is a lawn mower!

Was in here yesterday and had a great experience. The lady helping me (who I wish knew her name) was very friendly and informative. They have a great selection and are very knowledgeable of their inventory and will even help you load your vehicle in the rain. If I had the chance to again I wouldn't think twice about shopping here!

Miller Farms is a great nursery. Good selection. Between here and Mad River Gardens you can get everything you need. Check out the RhodieAzalea selection in Spring, it's the best around. Also, watch the roses when they go on sale, good selection. Someone posted a bad review because they couldn't buy out of season rhubarb. I think that's way harsh.

If I took my grandma in December looking for pumpkin starts, I wouldn't post a bad review because they don't have them, regardless of how disappointed my grandma was.
