We live in a desert. That is literally everybody in Southern California not just the High Desert areas. Without water piped in from the Sierras among other places, Southern California would be quite different. We have become used to turning on the tap and letting the water run. We grew up with a feeling of abundance when it came to using water in our homes and on our yards.
A pressure regulator is used to control pressure in the lines feeding the drip components. Desirable PSI allowed will vary from 20 PSI to 50 PSI normally depending on system components. A filter to filter sand and debris from the water supply so as not to clog the emitters or micro sprays. The cap on the bottom is the flush point or you can unscrew the lower portion to clean the filter inside. The Spaghetti tubing (" or 1/8") is the small tubing that runs from the lateral drip line to the plant. Emitters or micro sprays.
You may think a few weeds here or there aren't much to worry about, but did you know most weeds are capable of producing over a thousand seeds each? Rain and the warmer weather that will follow will make conditions just right for hose little land mines lying under the soil waiting for just the right moment to germinate and destroy your weekends.
We really have the best job! We get to help people transform open blank empty spaces into a welcoming extension of their home, where they can eat, play and work (if necessary). This current project has been so fun from the beginning. I always love to work up the design. Sometimes the design can go through lots of variations to get just the right balance of loveliness and budget. This project is close to home, making it all the nicer.
