Rogue Valley Soil Testing is for any gardener or grower who wants to grow healthy, productive plants. Rogue Valley Soil was started to fill the void opened when OSU and the Josephine County Extension Office stopped offering soil testing as a service for the public. It is Rogue Valley Soil's intention to keep soil testing easy and to help home gardeners to understand the art of conditioning garden soil.
Once testing is complete, you may pick up your results in person or I will email your results. PH: Acidity of alkalinity of soil. Plants will not thrive on soil that is either too acid or too alkaline because the soil pH directly affects the availability of mineral nutrients, which plants need for optimum growth.
Proper collection of the soil sample is extremely important. Follow these directions to ensure your soil sample accurately reflects your planting area. Use tools that are clean and free of rust. You will need a clean bucket, a garden trowel and a clean plastic (not metal) container. Avoid brass or galvanized tools or containers that can contaminate samples with zinc or copper.
Dirt is actually not the correct term to describe that complex growing media that plants need to, well, grow. Soil is a mixture of sand, clay, silt, organic matter, bacteria and microorganisms that help decompose organic matter into nutrients that enrich the soil. A basic soil test measures the proportion of each of these to determine the kind of soil you have.

Very prompt, very professional. Left my soil sample out front the office after hours and had my test back within a few days. Highly recommended.

This man accepted three soil samples from us, accepted $45 cash to test each sample. Never answered his phone (voicemail full) when we called to check on results. My son drove back to his house to pick up a written report in person. He tells us that he cannot produce a written report (because the printer is not working), but he will email us a report.

Later in the afternoon, we get a voice mail - he cannot email us results because he can't "get into" his email. By this time he is once again not answering the phone. (Voicemail still full.) So my son drives to his house (for a third time) and gets our money back. Wasted week of planting time, 4 1/2 hours of driving time.

Hello, I own a industrial hemp farm and used this company for a soil sample recently. This is not a huge company and is a small business that is not located in the easiest place to find. When it comes to the soil sample itself it is very professional and clear on advise for amending the soil. Overall, I'm using him again for 2019 for all our NPK and ph soil testing.

My suggestion is to call ahead and set appt. the gentleman will explain location directions. If you google it you will show up in front of a house and his location is in the back. There is a fence you must enter. It is a residential location. Hope this was helpful because the service is worth every dime. We wish everyone a happy productive farming year!

If I could give a lower ratting I would. I pulled up to the "house" no business signage or outside indication I'm even at the right location. So I call the phone number listed ~ I'm at the right spot. I go to the door reluctantly and I'm greeted by I guess the owner. He immediately, without any introduction invites me around back to his "lab." As the door opens his barking dog races out and ends up biting me on the leg!

The man tells me "no he didn't" as I can feel my leg throbbing! I'm 100% supporter of small businesses but this is the worst experience I've ever had. One summer in TN I sold books door to door meeting thousands of dogs ~ not one single incident like this. I'm sorry. He's probably a nice man, but not a very good first impression. Soil samples are too important to anyone that unprofessional test them.
