Came to look at backyard playsets. Whoever was working inside (owner? Employee?) Acknowledged me as we parked and walked up but never came over to engage in conversation or ask if he could help us with anything. My husband went inside to ask for someone to help us and was told "I don't deal with playsets." Gave us a brochure and told us to come back Thursday. Obviously not getting our sale. And won't be back for future outdoor needs. Rude

I've waited a very long time to have a chain link fence replaced in my yard, and a driveway gate, and finally did it. I had my eye on Walpole for all that time because of it's classic look, well built heavy gauge, a product that didn't need painting, but didn't look like cheap plastic either. I did a ton of research looking for something comparable, with no luck.

I could not be happier with my Walpole purchase. It was worth the wait, and slightly high price. It enhances the backyard giving it visual value well past it's price. I was able to reduce the cost slightly by ordering the largest lattice size instead of a tighter square pattern, something to consider. I did this to also let more light in for planting, knowing the plants would create more privacy as well.

The gate is rock solid and heavy, and a beautiful addition for a crispy finish to my yard. Walpole salesman Ben was responsive with an exchange of suggestions. The company had materials ready ahead of their time estimate, and were exact about their arrival date and work to be done. They added an additional installer to speed up the install and beat their own estimate for when they would finish.

They were careful about plantings, cleaned up debris well and were lovely to work alongside as I minded some of those plantings. The office staff sent me reminders all along the way. I would highly recommend Walpole as a company and a product!

What an amazing place. Love their selection of quality outdoor necessities. I bought a lamp post and mail box and had them installed by Walpole. Everything went great and my home looks awesome because of it. I'll recommend Walpole to anyone looking to upgrade their mailbox and or lamp post! Love this place.

I was looking to get a custom fence built and expected to pay a premium for that. They sent out an estimator very quickly and he took his measurements. I then received a quote for $17,000 dollars for ~80 ft of 4ft high fence. Basically, they were looking over $50/ sqft to install wood. After receiving the estimate it took a few days before I finally got an email response to my questions on how a fence could be that expensive. Having some experience in construction I merely wanted and understanding on how a fence could cost as much as some houses/sqft in certain parts of this country. Felt like the guy tried very hard to make it seem like his company was expensive because of their quality and the problem was merely my budget.

After reading the other reviews that seems very unlikely. Hard to take a guy seriously when he tries to correct me that the material cost is more than just wood. He thought it included engineering and fabrication. Two items that are classic examples of labor cost. Beware others. Fences don't cost $50/sqft

The initial encounter went well. Plans drawn up and deposit taken. After 12 weeks no call to tell us the material wasn't ordered. I had to initiate all correspondence and many times I got no call back as promised. As of 12 weeks in and still no idea when they would have my material to start, we requested a refund and cancelled the project. I did not feel comfortable with their customer service to take the chance and continue the project. The corporate office was no better.

Similar to others we found the customer service to be poor. Waited for a salesperson to have time for us so that we could arrange for an appointment for a new fence qand arbor estimate. We were told that a "designer" would be sent to the house. A gentleman showed up at the scheduled time/day and took measurements however, when asked about options on product such as fence style, etc. he could not speak to the details.

He didn't know prices, couldn't give advice on fence style, etc. After watching him fumble through the books for a nearly 10 minutes he admitted he is "not usually sent out on his own" and was "new at this". We escalated our concern to the store and got a call back from the manager indicating that he would look at the information gathered by the "designer" and get back to us.

We never heard from them again and never received an estimate. Ultimately went with another company that was actually interested in having us as a customer. For the money they charge for their product, I would have expected far better customer service. We will not shop there again and have gone our of our way to tell others - including contractors - to look elsewhere when in the market for a fence and arbor.

Maybe we should try again another day. We stopped by and there were 2 other cars in the parking lot. We wondered around outside looking for Adirondack chairs and then came inside. Since everything is a custom order, it's not as if you just say, "I'll take two in white". We waited and waited for a salesperson who both were occupied with other customers.

At no point did they even acknowledge us. I finally asked a salesperson for help and information about what to do if I was to buy something. They threw some catalogs at us and said they were busy. At that point we wondered around again outside but it started to rain. One more stop inside and we left. For the prices, I would have appreciated even a polite "I'll be with you in a moment.".

Walpole USED to be the best. My father and brother used them for years. Always on the pricey side, but worth it because nobody out there had anything nearly as nice. Then I ordered a shed from them and my landscaper warned me that they weren't what they used to be. Should've listened to him. They did a really bad job installing it and I had to have my landscaper re-install all the footings.

They just kicked some pavers under it and considered it done. Then I moved to a new house and I really wanted an even better shed. So a guy named Paul from Walpole shows up - we discuss the options and we go back and forth maybe 10-15 times on email and settle on a shed around $9,000. Mind you, this takes about 2 weeks of discussion. He sends me a quote with delivery set at $300 extra.

But as we discuss further, he informs me that to build the shed, it will be an extra $5-6,000! Imagine you are negotiating with a car dealer. You discuss the available cars, the available options, delivery, etc. and finally set on a price. Then the dealer lets you know that to buy that car, oh, sorry, it's going to be an extra $10,000 to build it. Ridiculous.

Such a huge cost (almost DOUBLE WHAT THE SHED COSTS) should be very clear from the beginning. A total waste of time. I told that manager about it, he didn't seem to care much. Never even called me back. Terrible. I'm having my contractor build me a custom one for less.

We purchased a floor model Woodplay swingset from Walpole a few weeks ago, and had it installed last week. The set is extremely sturdy and well built, and walpole offered free installation-that, along with the discount we received for purchasing the floor model, made this set an excellent value. The installers Gerry and Dan were right on time, were very professional, and finished the install in less than 4 hours.

Our backyard is very uneven and sits on a slope, but the guys were able to get this set as level as possible. My kids are having a blast playing on this set - I'm glad we didn't cheap out and buy a lesser-quality set from another manufacturer.

Small cute place but the set up of swing sets outside this place really lures the kids. We had a hard time saying no and the kids were very excited that the park is coming into their backyard. We went online checking out swing sets and came upon this place since they sell Woodplay playsets, not knowing the Obamas had a similar set. For people who don't know what these are, they are the premium playsets made of sustainable redwood which is naturally resistant to insects and decay and requiring no dangerous chemical preservatives.

There are other sets out there but these were highly recommended by our well-thought out friends. What do these things cost? oh my gosh prices that's what I say! I remember growing up on cheap aluminum sets. This set we got is beyond $3,500.frightening price eh? I thought there was an interesting play set that they offer for $25,000. I wonder who would get such a set? must be a commercial place or a super filthy rich family with a gargantuous backyard.

Service for installing was fine. the guys installed the set in less than 5 hours. When the kids saw this set in our backyard and not the retail store, oh.the smiles on their faces and the "wheeeeeee" sounds they make was just so worth remembering.
