When Noel Adams opened for business in 1969, the dust had barely settled in the Sea of Tranquility, where Neil Armstrong took one giant leap for mankind. Woodstock had just wrapped up in New York, launching the careers of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and the Grateful Dead. Closer to home, The Seattle Pilots baseball team were in the midst of their one and only season, and the newly formed Supersonics were still finding their stride in the crowded NBA Western Division.Bell bottoms and tie-dye were all around, and Disco was well on the way.

Headquartered in Tacoma, AHBL, Inc. began in 1969 when Noel Adams started his structural engineering firm. In the 1970s, Geoff Hodsdon and Al Bessette joined Adams to become AHB, Inc. By the end of the 80s, realizing the synergy that a multidiscipline firm could offer, the civil firm of George J. Lindsay, merged with AHB, Inc. and became AHBL, Inc.
