Sun or shade, good drainage. Rapid grower, stands some pruning and sharing. Salt resistant. As a hedge it is still in great demand despite a current leaning toward the informal design patterns. It will always be a good background screen. Ideal native tree for shade and open spaces. The Live Oak is deciduous to semi-evergreen, pefers a light sandy loam, well drained, sunny location and is able to withstand cold temperatures well. These hollies make perfect accents at the corners of your home, in the flower garden or entryway.
