Vernon Daniel graduated at the top of his high school class before going on to study electrical engineering in college prior to graduating with a degree in landscape design in 1963. After working in Dallas and Houston, Texas for a lighting design firm, Vernon moved to the Washington DC metropolitan area and founded his firm, "Vernon Daniel Associates - America's Landscape illuminator" in 1971 with the help of his wife, Jo Ann.
