The Connecticut Grounds Keepers Association is a not for profit organization who serves landscaping firms and their allied manufacturers and distributors. We provide professional development and networking opportunities for our members and the green industry in our state. Our contributions towards lobbying help protect our industry, and our endowed scholarship program at UCONN helps ignite our future.

History of the CGKA

The Connecticut Grounds Keepers Association was incorporated in March of 1970. Our beginnings were led by Sal Cioffi, Bob Gibbons, Jack Riccio, and Ted Stamen of UCONN. The first meeting for the Connecticut Grounds Keepers Association was held in a barn in Woodbridge, CT. Following the initial meeting, the Association held meetings at the homes of its Board of Directors for the next two years.

In 2000 the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Grounds Keepers Association established an award to honor Sal Cioffi, one of our founding members. Sal's direction and foresight created the Connecticut Grounds Keepers Association, and he helped build the foundation for professionalism and accreditation in our industry.
