Bookcliff Gardens

Ed Settle started the company in 1968 by growing greenhouse tomatoes and selling them to local markets. He also raised carnations in the greenhouses for cut flowers. In the mid 1970's he started growing bedding plants, and his son, Bill, joined the company to help run the greenhouses. Nursery stock and garden goods soon followed.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (and enforced by the Colorado Department of Agriculture) has mandated that all nursery containers be called by a name that accurately denotes the true volume of the container. No longer can we call a plant a "5 Gallon" plant or a "#5" plant. We now have to list the size of the pot in both English and metric units. The following is a listing of the true volumes of the various pots sizes we sell. We apologize for any confusion this may cause.
