Malcarne Contracting is exceptional. Our complex project entailed designing and installing a geo-thermal HVAC system, and all associated wells and ductwork, in a large house, part of which is 300 years old and part of which is 80 years old, with two, non-connected basements. The project presented a range of technical challenges, including retrofitting an old structure with ductwork, integrating equipment located in separate basements into a single system, and doing it while the house was occupied by our family. Joseph and his team were unfailingly polite, punctual and professional and, more to the point, performed outstanding work.

The large project (and several subsidiary projects) came in on time, on budget, in the least disruptive way possible. The system works beautifully. A sprawling old house that was once drafty and impossible to heat is now snug and warm in the winter, and cool in the summer. Joseph's team was great: Fernando, Tony, Damian, Bill and the others were all pleasant and thoughtful. Joseph himself is an exceptional communicator with a calm, can-do demeanor and deep technical know-how to back up his quiet confidence. I would use Malcarne Contracting again without hesitation.

Recently, we are blessed with a baby girl, and the doctor told us to keep her in a warm environment during the initial days. So, we suddenly decided to install a state of the art heating system in our house. My neighbor recommended using the services of Malcarne HCAV. They completed the whole work in just Three days, and we are so glad to use their outstanding services.

My wife and I bought a house built in 1960, which had been improved over the years in various ways that apparently made sense to the owner at the time. It was drafty, and had no air conditioning. I wanted to take advantage of NYSERDA's home energy improvement loan, and ideally get the air conditioning installed as well, all at the same time. I also wanted to be as energy efficient as possible, so I was looking for a company with experience in ductless mini-split units.

Since we hadn't moved in yet, Joseph made us his priority, so things got done quickly. His team insulated all the exterior walls, added insulation to the roof, air sealed the house, installed a radon removal system in the basement, and installed 5 ductless mini split units. And as I've now learned is normal for an older house, several other things had to be done to allow the things we actually wanted done to be done, like relocating the service drop coming into the house, replacing the fuse box, and so on.

They also did some minor things like replace the truly scary electrical connection going to the dishwasher, install a fire-rated door to the garage, and deal with some plumbing issues. The men doing the work were all very professional, and were very good about cleaning up after themselves at the end of each day. They got there in the morning when they said they would, and were very careful about not leaving doors or anything open where my cat could escape.

And when I had to go to work and no one could be there at times, I had no concerns leaving them at the house by themselves. Joseph stopped by several times through the process to make sure things were going well. He seems intent on getting things done right, and not cutting corners. When we had an issue with one of the upstairs air handlers making a very loud whistling noise, several people came back and installed an extra return to reduce the noise dramatically. I have no qualms about recommending Malcarne Contracting to people I know, and I'll certainly be hiring them again for any other work that needs to be done.

Malcarne Contracting is TOP NOTCH! They traveled to help me out with my aerobics studio. They built a whole babysitting room and a WONDERFUL stage for me in only 2 days! VERY hard-working and courteous staff, not to mention the founder, Joseph Malcarne, paid extra attention to my concerns and was quick to offer options and solutions. The workers went above and beyond and even installed my aerobic flooring without me even asking!

Since the Malcarne commented on my review and I can't seem to respond to theirs, I am adding a review: It took many months for Malcarne to finish the job. They wrote: "There was a minor issue with some over-spray onto objects that were not covered completely." NOTHING was covered before spraying half the basement (the spray foam wasn't completed in one visit).

Minor issue? I think not. Have you ever had to take a razor blade to crystal? They wrote: "We stand by our commitment to always put the customer first and make sure their needs are met to the best of our ability." I guess the catch phrase is "TO THE BEST OF OUR ABILITY" Hire Malcarne? As the movie says: are you feeling lucky?

They are the best. The work performed was worth every dollar spent. All the employees are friendly and courteous. Joseph was open to my wants and ideas and offered many suggestions. No complaints here and I would highly recommend them.
